There are many other features that are missing in the latest Macintosh version. The UI may be different but the mechanics are the same: In the Section Footer go to the Header and Footer contextual tab of the Ribbon, in the Options group clear the Link to Previous check box. If you want to use different page number formatting or starting number use Insert> Page Numbers in the main menu or the Page Number button in the Document Elements tab rather than the Page Number button on the Header and Footer tab. There's no question that there are differences but that doesn't necessarily mean that any particular feature is 'missing' or make the program 'vastly inferior'. In most cases it's just that it may not be presented in the manner you're accustomed to. I've just discovered this issue, just recently upgraded to chrome beta 46.0, issue not on all chrome use, happening right now in gmail hangouts, while at same time i'm typing in chrome here with no issue of overwrite.
